Norton Road Speeding
When is the town of berlin police going to do something about the dangerous conditions on Norton Road??? I have been living on this road for 25 years now and the past few years have made me want to move from this town. With so many homes being built in every free square inch of space in this town there is way too many cars on this road. Coupled with the fact in the morning starting around 7 am all the traffice going to McGee Middle School and Willard Elementary School. When I go out to get my morning paper it never fails about 2 or 3 cars speed down past me at about 70 mph. A couple of weeks ago my house lost power because some maniac went speeding down the road and hit a telephone pole and my power was out for 6 hours. I can never drive down this road without someone right on my bumper because they think the posted speed limit is 55 mph and not 35 mph. Not to mention the people that fail to stop at the stop signs and just glide on through at Norton and Kensington Road, Norton and Four Road Road and Norton and Lower Lane. I have driven in San Franciso California and Las Vegas Nevada which have 20x more traffic than Berlin but I must say the people out there are more courteous than the people in my own town. Chamberlain highway is another big problem in this town. A friend of mine and me where going out to dinner on a Wednesday night about 6pm. We were at the intersection of Chamberlain Highway and Orchard Road when all of a sudden a car in back of us decided to pass us on double lines. He failed to realize another car was coming in the other lane and skimmed up against our car. We could feel the impact. Luckily no damage was down but he didn't even fail to stop. I was sooooo mad that night I almost called the police to report this driver but since there was no damage my friend felt(it was his car) that it was not even worth calling the police. Berlin police I think you need to make your presence felt more on Chamberlain Highway and Norton Road and start ticketing these speeders and reckless drivers before someone gets killed. Honestly I'm not kidding and hope this forum post is read by someone that has the power to change what's going on in "our beautiful country town????" Yeah right! Oh yeah..plus let's build the new high school on Kensington Road and have even MORE traffice going down Norton Road. Maybe our fair Mayor should come live on this road for a week and see if he would like it. If they ever do that I think Berlin would have one less person contributing to their tax base because I would be out of here.
