Ok Berlin (Meriden too), time to enter the 21st century and join the green movement. Although the new automated trash service is nice, it is only a baby step compared to the rest of the country, and was long overdue. The next step is to make recycling the centerpoint of "refuse removal", with weekly pick-up of all recyclables, in "single stream" format. "Single stream" is the same pick up technique as our new automated trash service. A single container with all recyclable material (unsorted) rolled to the curb for automated pick up. Even better for Berlin would be to make the recycle container twice as large as the trash container, and charge a "slide scale" charge for trash containers. The bigger the trash container, higher the price.
