CIAC cracks down on ref-bashing

Coaches unhappy with game officials had better not vent in a public forum, or consequences could follow.
The CIAC Board of Control, at their Feb. 25 meeting, unanimously passed regulations that sanction a coach who chooses to publicly criticize game officials.
The following regulations go into effect immediately: Any coach who criticizes a game official(s) in a public forum will be subject to; first offense — one-game disqualification and the school will be fined $250; second offense — two-game disqualification and the school will be fined $500; third offense — disqualification for the remainder of the season and the school will be fined $750. A third offense will result in at least a five-game disqualification.
