Donald G. Gervais, 84, of East Berlin, Ct., died Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Andrew House, New Britain, Ct. Don was born in Caribou, Maine and was the son of the late Joseph and Albertine (Ouellette) Gervais. He worked as a computer analyst for Connecticut Mutual for several years. Don served honorably with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post, Berlin, Ct. and the Gashouse Gang, New Britain, Ct. He and his wife, Shirley enjoyed their winters in Sarasota, Florida. Don enjoyed hunting, and was an avid fan and watching the UCONN Huskies and Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed his grandchildren and loved his sweets.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Gervais of East Berlin, Ct., his son David Gervais and his wife, Charlotte of Port Charlotte, Florida, his two daughters, Wendy Gervais and her beloved partner, Donald Marut of East Berlin, Ct., Heidi Gervais and her husband, Joseph Beharry of Newington, Ct., her brother, Bernard Gervais of New Britain, Ct., his five sisters, Kathleen Sales of New Britain, Ct., Helen Evans of Farmington, Ct., Joyce Stanton of Simsbury, Ct., Claudette Faucher of Hutchinson Island, Florida and Francis Culver of Berlin, Ct., and his two grandchildren, Sara and Ryan Gervais and several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his sister, Anita Murray and his two brothers, Norman and Ralph Gervais.
A Celebration of Donald's life will be held Monday, November 16, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, Ct. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, Monday from 12 noon - 1 p.m. Directions to funeral home: I-84 East or West - Exit 37
