Roy L. Holtman, 89, of Kensington, loving and devoted husband of Lois Jean (Stone) Holtman, died Tuesday at Ridgeview Healthcare in Cromwell. Born in New Britain, son of the late Roy W. and the late Minnie (Firnhaber) Holtman, he graduated from New Britain High School. He served his country proudly and flew thirty-two missions in B24’s and B17’s in the 8th Air Force in WWII, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross with Three Oak Leaf Clusters and many other citations. After the War he served as a pilot in The Connecticut Air National Guard and was called back to service during the Korean Conflict. Roy and his father owned and operated Sani-Kleen Rug Company in New Britain. He was a member of Berlin Congregational Church, a member of Unity Lodge #148 A.F.&A.M., a past master of Centennial Lodge #118 A.F.&A.M., a 32nd degree member of The Scottish Rite, and a member of The Quiet Birdmen. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving and caring son, Curtis S. Holtman of Kensington, and several cousins. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, on Sunday from 4-6pm. Funeral services and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain, at the convenience of the family.
