A small fire in a greenhouse on Southington Road, about 7 a.m. Tuesday, created a lot of smoke but resulted in little damage, according to the fire marshal’s office.

According to Deputy Fire Marshal Matt Odishoo, the occupants of Apple Hill Farm, 57 Southington Road, had a wood fire going near a small plastic-style greenhouse. The fire spread to other woodpiles and also to hay.

Between the smoldering hay and plastic, the incident created heavy black smoke. However, fire fighters were able to put out the fire within a short period of time, Odishoo said.
