Walking on New Britain Road, Kensington

I walk on New Britain Road every day. I cross the street to walk on the sidewalk. And here is my problem : I try to cross when there are no cars coming from either direction. However when a car is far away I cross but I never make it to the other side because the car is coming down at 70 miles on hour and I must go back to the sidewalk and wait until there are no cars coming from both directions.

The same thing happens on Farmington Avenue when I try to cross to go to Alling Street. On Farmington Avenue at the intersection of Grove Street there is a cross walk for pedestrians but the cars still come down at 80 miles on hour eventhough they see a pedestrian crossing .

The sad commentary is that no one knows if these car racers are townpeople or visitors.

It would be nice if these cars would slow down when they see people crossing over. My house is close to the streets lights at the intersection of New Britain Road and Farmington Avenue. They must slow down for the light unless beating the green light is more important to them than the life of a person.
